Seema Haider, a Pakistani citizen who entered India illegally in May and is currently residing with her partner Sachin Meena in Uttar Pradesh’s Noida, was questioned by UP Police’s Anti-Terrorist Squad on Wednesday, marking the third day of her interrogation by the agency. Sachin Meena and his father Netrapal Singh are also reportedly being questioned in connection with the case.
Seema Haider, aged 30, and Sachin Meena, aged 22, first met each other through the mobile game PUBG and were subsequently arrested by the local police in Greater Noida on July 4. However, they were granted bail by a court on July 7. Seema was arrested for illegally entering India, while Sachin was held for providing shelter to illegal immigrants.
According to reports, Seema Haider, along with her four children, entered India from Nepal in May to join Sachin. The couple claims to have gotten married in Nepal earlier this year and first connected with each other in 2019.
When asked about Seema Haider possibly being a Pakistani agent, UP Police stated that all agencies are conducting their investigations and that it would not be appropriate to make any assertions without sufficient evidence. Prashant Kumar, the Uttar Pradesh Special Director General Law & Order, emphasized that this matter involves two nations, and further action is being taken while considering the complexities involved.
Seema Haider, originally from Sindh province in Pakistan, was married in Karachi in 2014 and her husband, Ghulam Haider, works in Saudi Arabia. During interactions with the media, Seema expressed her desire to live with Sachin in India and stated that she does not want to return to Pakistan. She even claimed to have converted to Hinduism and insisted that she would rather end her life than be deported to Pakistan.
Seema and Sachin met in Kathmandu, Nepal, in March, where they reportedly stayed together for seven days and secretly got married. Subsequently, Seema returned to Pakistan, while Sachin went back to India. Seema later sold a plot and arranged for flight tickets and a visa for Nepal for herself and her children. In May, she entered Nepal via Dubai, spent time in Pokhara, and eventually reached Greater Noida, where Sachin had arranged a rented accommodation for her and her children without revealing her Pakistani identity.
Local police eventually discovered the presence of a Pakistani woman and her children illegally in the area. The couple and children attempted to evade arrest but were caught in Ballabhgarh, Haryana, and officially arrested on July 4. They were later granted bail by a court in Jewar.
The intelligence agencies of Pakistan reportedly informed the government that Seema Haider’s primary motive for entering India was ‘love,’ as she wanted to live with a Hindu man.
Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak asserted that the state government will not tolerate any illegal activities, and both state and central agencies are actively investigating the matter of Seema Haider.
